Our Practices
Our mission is to help you become a lifelong follower of Jesus. We do that by practicing and developing these five practices in our lives:
-
We encourage everyone to practice a weekly Sabbath dinner where they can delight in their family, spouse, kids, or if single, friends or relatives, and then conclude Sabbath at another table, the Lord’s Table, every Sunday morning at one of the services.
-
We invite every person who attends Living Hope to do our daily Devotional Experience. Each year we put out 365 days of Bible reading for Living Hope. You can find it on our website as well as in our Devotional Experience journal.
-
We encourage you to give to God as an act of reverent worship. Give the tithe as a holy portion belonging to Yahweh. As you give the holy portion of your income, you are giving the whole of your income.
-
We have several different styles and options of groups from live to Zoom, men’s to women’s, marriage, to families, to teens. We cannot do life alone. We grow together as we follow Jesus together.
-
Living Hope is a family, God’s family. And just like everyone in a family has responsibilities to make the family work, we all have responsibilities to make our Living Hope family work. As we serve in our church, or homes, and our community, we become the hands and feet of Jesus.
Our Pastors
Jess and Brenda Strickland are Lead Pastors at Living Hope in Aloha, Oregon. They are passionate about helping people know Jesus.
Pastors Jess and Brenda have been pastoring for 40 years. They started out as church planters and have a burden to help plant churches all around the globe, but especially the west coast of the United States. Pastor Jess is a prolific writer, an exceptional Bible teacher and preacher, and a true pastor of people. Pastor Brenda is a creative pastor, passionate people-lover and friend to all.
Pastors Jess and Brenda have two children: Pastor Jerushah, who has two sons with her husband Ben; and Pastor Jared who has two sons on earth and one in heaven. Pastors Jess and Brenda love Jesus, love people, love their family (especially their grandkids), love each other, and love the church. They can't wait to see what God is going to do in this moment.
